Imagine you're the coach of your local junior rugby league team, watching on from the sideline as your team is gives it their all in another enjoyable match. It's a close match and the boys and girls are putting in a great performance, you chant out some encouragement to keep their heads in game!
Suddenly, the on-field official stops the game, marches towards the sideline to criticise your coaching, say your team is no chance of winning and you're delusional, when all you're doing is simply rallying your troops.
That's the light-hearted scenario found in the first in a series of videos from the NRL which encourages coaches to put themselves in the shoes of our hardworking match officials that ensure junior rugby league can be played across Australia.
The campaign aims to remind the public that rugby league is a game to be enjoyed, with all involved – from players and referees to coaches and volunteers – to be treated with respect.
Remember, it's just a game!
