Broncos five-eighth Anthony Milford.

Broncos legend Steve Renouf has revealed the circumstances surrounding a late night text he once sent to Wayne Bennett pointing out that the Broncos kicking wasn't up to scratch in this week's NRL Podcast.

In the podcast, Renouf  notes how general kicking has been a problem for the Broncos in the past and explains why he believes Anthony Milford will step up to be the club's number one kicker this year.

Renouf once texted Bennett after a loss to the Cowboys about what he considered to be a poor kicking game.

"Wayne blasted back and said 'Pearl, you were a good player, but I'm the coach', and virtually left it at that," Renouf chuckled.

"I saw him a couple of days later and he said it was all good but 'you sent me that text at the wrong time. I wasn't happy'."

On a serious note Renouf does speak about why the Broncos kicking game will be under the microscope in 2018 and why Milford can do the job.

Renouf also reflects on why a seventh premiership is a Holy Grail for the 2018 Brisbane team and how several innovations at the new Broncos headquarters have given the current squad some inspiration to end a 12-year title drought.

He analyses whether the Titans can make their recent rebuild count on the park and the legacy of Maroons legends Cameron Smith and Johnathan Thurston, who will play their testimonial match against each other on Friday night.
