6.02pm AEDT: For the keen observers out there, you may have realised that Matt Dufty is wearing the jersey number 18 despite playing fullback for the St George Illawarra Dragons.

The number 1 jersey has been retired in honour of the recently passed Immortal Graeme 'Changa' Langlands.

"Changa was probably the best fullback the club has had so dedicating our Round 1 game to him is something the boys and I are really happy to get behind," Dufty said.

Fans are encouraged to arrive at Kogarah Oval early to pay their respects to Langlands in a public tribute with a plaque to be unveiled in honour of 'Changa.'

5.25pm AEDT: The Parramatta Eels have re-signed utility Will Smith until the end of the 2020 season.

Thrust into the side late in the 2017 season, he drew praise from coach Brad Arthur for his versatility and his consistency.

“Will Smith has been a consistent performer since he joined us in 2016 and he showed last season how valuable his contribution is to our team across multiple positions," said Arthur.

“I am pleased that he has signed with us for a further two years and I am sure our Members and fans will continue to be supportive of him as he progresses his career through to the 2020 season."

5.19pm AEDT: Ricky Stuart has sprung a selection surprise, dropping Blake Austin to the bench for their season opener against the Titans.

Sam Williams will start in the halves alongside Aidan Sezer, as the two rekindle their halves partnership from two seasons ago.
