Jarryd Hayne's testing season with the Parramatta Eels has continued, with the fullback injuring his hip in the first half against Cronulla Sharks at ANZ Stadium.

The 30-year-old was forced from the field in the 28th-minute and played no further part in the contest after he was ruled out by the club's trainer.

It is believed Hayne sustained a hip flexor injury. The severity of the injury will determine his return to action.

Hayne returned to the Eels for the 2018 season after having spent just over a year with the Gold Coast Titans.

Prior to that he played in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers.
