Tom Opacic and David Fifita were the last two men to drop off the bench after Troy Dargan and Josh McGuire were the two players dropped from the reserves list 24 hours out from kick-off.

Brad Arthur has finally lost patience with his underperforming team and swapped fullback Clint Gutherson with five-eighth Corey Norman. Beau Scott's season-ending ACL injury forces a reshuffle with Manu Ma'u moving back to second row, Peni Terepo to lock and Siosaia Vave recalled at prop. Kane Evans and Josh Hoffman were dropped from the squad an hour out from kick-off after Raymond Stone and Jaeman Salmon were omitted from the squad 24 hours before kick-off.

Emre Guler and Michael Oldfield were omitted an hour before kick-off, while Sam Williams and Craig Garvey were dropped from the bench on Thursday.

Billy Slater won't face the Cowboys after being ruled out 24 hours prior to kick-off due to hamstring tightness. Jahrome Hughes will start at fullback. Young Tonumaipea replaces the suspended Curtis Scott in the centres while skipper Cameron Smith is back from a one-week suspension. Joe Stimson starts in the back row, with Sam Kasiano back from suspension on the bench. Moeaki Fotuaika has been elevated to the bench at the expense of Jack Stockwell, while Kane Elgey and Morgan Boyle were cut from the squad 24 hours before kick-off.

Sosaiai Feki and Braden Uele were cut from the squad on Saturday afternoon. Andrew Fifita has been rested with a knee injury, while Jack Williams has also been omitted an hour before kick-off. Luke Capewell has been elevated to the interchange with Ava Seumanafagai called into the run-on side.
