Broncos powerhouse Tevita Pangai jnr has been hailed by club legend Steve Renouf as the club's modern day Gorden Tallis in this week's NRL Podcast.

At the start of the season Renouf voiced his concern that the Broncos did not have a feared figure in the forwards like a Tallis to intimidate opposition packs.

Pangai's performance in the round two clash with the Cowboys gave Renouf hope he could be the man to fill the void, and his consistent game breaking form since has convinced Renouf the Tongan international has inherited the mantle of Tallis in Brisbane's back-row.

"He does have a bit of Gorden in him in that he is not intimidated by anyone," Renouf said.

"I've spent a bit of time with him this year and I know he loves the Broncos jersey. He is one of those boys you just don't want to lose."

Renouf also outlines the challenge he believes the Broncos will have keeping Pangai long-term if Wayne Bennett is coaching elsewhere in 2020.

Ahead of the penultimate round of the Telstra Premiership two games – Roosters v Broncos and Warriors v Panthers – are set to go a long way to deciding the final placings of fifth to eighth on the ladder.

Renouf runs the rule over those two clashes and outlines why he believes the Broncos and Warriors will prevail.
