The NRL has announced the appointment of a new Chairwoman for NRL Victoria, PricewaterhouseCoopers Director, Dr Amanda Green.

Green has held senior roles in telecommunications, finance and postal services throughout her career, as well as serving as General Manager People and Culture of the Richmond Football Club over four years.

NRL Head of Football, Brian Canavan said Dr Green brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role as Chair and congratulated her on the appointment.

"Rugby League is increasing its footprint throughout Victoria with more than 12 consecutive years of year on year increase in grassroots participation," Mr Canavan said.

"On top of this, Melbourne Storm are celebrating their 20th season this year and continue to remain one of our leading teams in the competition, we just witnessed another spectacular Holden State of Origin at the iconic MCG, and we're delighted that the Victorian Government has recently committed to a multi-million dollar centre of excellence in Broadmeadows for our code.

"There's lots to look forward to for rugby league fans throughout Victoria and Amanda is a fantastic addition to our overall team to help forge greater opportunities."

Dr Green said she was looking forward to the role and continuing to strengthen rugby league throughout the state.

"Rugby League has a strong following throughout Victoria and I'm excited to be taking on this opportunity at a time when there is rapid and positive growth within the game, including the commencement of a women's Premiership later this year," Dr Green said.

"Victorians love their sport and it's an honour to be part of a game that binds so many people from many walks of life together."

Dr Green commenced as Chairwoman at 1 August 2018.
