As the NRL prepares to celebrate an historic weekend of women’s rugby league, the game has announced a partnership with Rebel spanning the next three years.

NRL Chief Commercial Officer, Andrew Abdo confirmed Rebel as a foundation partner of the inaugural NRL Holden Women’s Premiership, together with being an official partner of the NRL.

“We are delighted to have Australia’s premium sports retailer on board as an official partner,” Mr Abdo said.

“Rebel have a strong record in supporting women’s sport across the country and it’s great to include them as part of such an important moment in our game’s history – with increased pathways, participation and opportunities for women in our game than ever before.”

Rebel’s Managing Director, Erica Berchtold echoed Mr Abdo’s sentiments, saying Rebel was looking forward to the partnership.

“The NRL is a sport that our customers and our team members around Australia really love, and we are really excited to partner with the NRL,” Ms Berchtold said.

“In supporting the NRL’s professional competition for women, we aim to provide female role models for girls wanting to play the sport and accessibility to participation programs for children all around Australia.

“Role models and increased participation opportunities: that is our commitment across all sports in Australia and this partnership is particularly exciting due to the popularity of the NRL.”

Rebel have been building an NRL presence since being involved in the successful Holden Women’s Origin in June.

The business will increase their brand integration across the NRL throughout the Finals and beyond, and in 2019,  Rebel will have a core focus on member exclusives and campaigns, aimed at keeping Australians young and old active and enjoying their footy.
