Australian Schoolboys lose first Test to England

The Australian Schoolboys have suffered a 14-8 loss at Leigh in the opening match of their two-Test series against England.

Harry Smith was the star for England, scoring a try, booting three goals plus a 40-20 kick.

England led 12-0 at the break and added a penalty goal before the Australians hit back via a try to Penrith Panthers young gun Stephen Crichton.

Newcastle Knights forward Timanu Alexander also crossed for an unconverted try for Australia to bring the deficit back to six but the home side hung on to draw first blood in the series.

The second match will be played on Friday at Headingley.
