March 6: Brett joins dad in 100 Club; Broncos' debut dazzler
On this day, the Broncos announce themselves by smashing the defending premiers in their debut match, a world record crowd gathers at Sydney's Olympic Stadium and Brett joins dad in the centurion club.
1988
The Brisbane Broncos stun Manly 44-10 in their first match in the NSWRL competition. Wally Lewis scores two tries and Terry Matterson adds eight goals to the two tries he scored as the new glamour club hit the ground running. The Broncos would go on to win 10 games in their debut season and finish seventh, just one win outside the top six.

1999
A then world-record crowd of 104,583 turned out for a round one double-header at Sydney's Olympic Stadium. Parramatta beat St George Illawarra 20-10 before Newcastle scored a 41-18 victory over Manly. That record was beaten when 107,999 attended the 1999 grand final between the Storm and Dragons.
2000
Canberra flyer Brett Mullins completes a unique family double when he scores the 100th try of his career – joining his father Bill in the 100-try club. They become the first father-son combo to achieve the feat.
2015
Manly's season gets off to a terrible start with a 42-12 loss to Parramatta followed by Daly Cherry-Evans telling teammates he had agreed to join the Gold Coast Titans from 2016 onwards. DCE would eventually back out of the deal and sign a long-term deal with the Sea Eagles.
2016
Newcastle twins Jacob and Daniel Saifiti become the first twins to debut together in premiership history in a clash with the Titans. Daniel scores a try in the 30-12 loss.
2020
The NRL prepare to play games in front of empty stadiums as the threat of the global Coronavirus intensifies. The game’s head body continues to monitor advice from health authorities.
