Sergeant Edward Rennix Larkin, the first paid secretary of the New South Wales Rugby League, is killed during the war at Gallipoli.

1935

Canterbury Bankstown play their first competition match, falling 20-5 to Norths at North Sydney Oval. Forward Jack Hartwell scores the club’s first try.

1990

City Origin defeat Country Origin 28-26 in one of the highest quality matches seen in years. Rival wingers Graham Lyons (City) and Jason Edwards (Country) score four tries apiece, in the City Firsts-Country Firsts match won 38-26 by City.

1993

Brisbane defeats St George 20-14 in their first meeting since the Broncos beat the Dragons in the 1992 grand final.

2002

St George Illawarra and the Sydney Roosters fight out a controversial Anzac Day clash before 20,588 fans at Aussie Stadium. The Dragons dispute two late calls by referee Tony Archer after the Roosters prevail 24-20.

St George Illawarra scores a thrilling 24-20 win over the Sydney Roosters in the annual Anzac Day clash at Aussie Stadium - exactly the same score they lost by in the previous year's Anzac Day match.

2009

St George Illawarra five-eighth Jamie Soward plays a blinder as he spearheads a 29-0 Anzac Day defeat of the Sydney Roosters.

2012

The NRL’s Player Agent Accreditation Committee suspend three player managers – Isaac Moses, David Riolo and George Mimis – over the Melbourne Storm salary cap scandal. The trio is banned for six months.

2014

South Sydney fullback Greg Inglis scores an individual try that draws comparisons with the best of all-time in the Rabbitohs’ 28-26 defeat of Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium. Inglis beats six Broncos defenders in an 89-metre burst.

2017

Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce ends a horror run of 18 straight missed field goal attempts to sink St George Illawarra in a golden point Anzac Day thriller at Allianz Stadium. Pearce steps up as favourite to reclaim the NSW halfback jersey after the Roosters’ 13-12 win in front of 40,864 spectators.
