Arthur Summons is chaired from the SCG after Australia’s victory in the Third Test of the 1962 Ashes series.

On this day, Terry Lamb brought up his century with a hat-trick against the Sea Eagles, while Paul Harragon drew the curtain on a fine career and King Gutho committed to a new Eels deal.

1956

Ian Thomson is born. Thomson was graded by Balmain in 1974 but played all of his first-grade career with Manly, except in 1981 when he returned to the Tigers for one season before returning to the Sea Eagles. He was a prop with the club's 1978 premiership-winning team and also briefly represented NSW and Australia.

Terry Lamb scores his 100th try for Canterbury in the Bulldogs’ 21-12 defeat of Manly. Lamb marks the occasion by scoring all three Canterbury tries. The man they call 'Baa' would finish his stellar career with 164 tries.

1999

Newcastle captain Paul Harragon plays the final match of his career in a 20-15 defeat of the Panthers at Penrith Football Stadium. The former NSW and Kangaroos prop had been plagued by chronic knee injuries in his final years.

2009

Wentworthville five-eighth Albert Kelly scores a try after only nine seconds of a NSW Cup match against Newtown.

2010    

South Sydney record their biggest win at the Sydney Cricket Ground when they crush Wests Tigers 50-10 in a one-sided Heritage Round match played before a crowd of more than 30,000.

Winger Nathan Merritt bagged a hat-trick and Beau Champion a double in the nine-try romp. Tigers coach Tim Sheens and captain Robbie Farah apologise to fans for the team’s inept display.

2019    

Parramatta captain Clint Gutherson ends week of indecision over his playing future by signing a new three-year deal with the club.

2020

The game mourns the passing of dual international Arthur Summons, captain of the Ashes-winning Kangaroos team of 1963 and one half of the iconic ‘Gladiators’ partnership with St George legend Norm Provan.

2021

Dragons centre Tyrell Fuimaono is sent off for a sickening high shot that leaves Storm fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen heavily concussed. The 12-man Dragons are thumped 44-18. The negative headlines continue in the final game of Magic Round when Titans prop Herman Ese'ese is marched for a high tackle on Penrith's Brian To'o. By the end of Magic Round a record 17 players are either sin binned (14) or sent off (3).
