Australian hip hop artist Briggs will headline a pre-match spectacular prior to the opening Holden State of Origin match at Suncorp Stadium, on June 5.

The Indigenous Australian rapper and rugby league fan will provide his signature beats and bars to the performance, which will include a special tribute to some of Queensland’s greatest ever players.

The lights-out spectacular includes an immersive laser and pyrotechnic display with an additional 500 Queensland Maroon Members invited to join in the live show on-field.

"The pre-match Holden State of Origin experience will be an entertaining celebration of our greatest rivalry,” NRL Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Abdo said.

“The combination of lights-out, lasers and live music will be an exciting way to launch the Series and I encourage fans to get their tickets today before it’s too late.”

An ARIA-Award winner in 2017 for Best Independent Release and Best Urban Album of the Year, BRIGGS has supported international artists such as 50 Cent, Ice Cube and Ice-T, and has worked alongside Australian music icons such as The Hilltop Hoods, Midnight Oil and Paul Kelly.

The performance has been a long time coming for the passionate rugby league supporter.

“When State of Origin came to Melbourne in 1994, we drove two and a half hours from Shepparton for it,” Briggs said.

“It sparked my love for the game, there was nothing like it - and now full circle, I get to play at one of the greatest events on Australia’s sporting calendar.”
