1920

Glebe forward Frank Burge scores eight tries in a match against University at  Sydney’s Agricultural Ground. Glebe win the match 41-0 and Burge contributes 32 points.

1984

Queensland prop Greg Dowling takes a freakish catch of a Wally Lewis kick that struck the crossbar to score a crucial try in a State of Origin match at the SCG. Given the muddy conditions, the effort by the big man to get down low and snaffle the ball was an absolute beauty.

1992

Parramatta cause a boilover by defeating the touring Great Britain side 22-16 at Parramatta Stadium. Before the match young Eel Lee Oudenryn sets the tone for the night by beating renowned speedster Martin Offiah in a sprint race.

1998

Queensland claim the State of Origin series with a convincing 19-4 victory in the deciding match at the Sydney Football Stadium.

2010

Rookie halfback Trent Hodkinson kicks two field goals in two minutes to lift Manly to a 26-25 victory over Souths at Brookvale Oval.

2020

The NRL announces that clubs will be free to return to their regular home venues in Round 8 (July 2) as COVID-19 restrictions are eased in New South Wales and Queensland. Initially, crowds are to be capped at 25 percent of a venue’s capacity.
