NSW fullback James Tedesco is swamped by fans.

On this day, a Great Britain tour match is abandoned due to violence among the players, Blake Austin stars for Canberra and Brad Fittler's Blues make it back-to-back series wins with a last-minute James Tedesco try.

1954

On a day at the SCG that would long be remembered, referee Aub Oxford abandons a match between the visiting Great Britain side and NSW after 56 minutes, most of which was taken up by brawling and violent play. 

1990

Prolific point-scorer and NRL premiership winner Adam Reynolds is born. In 242 matches Reynolds has chalked up 1986 points courtesy of 42 tries, 897 goals and 22 field goals. In 2014, Reynolds helped Souths to a drought-breaking premiership. After 11 seasons and 231 games at Redfern he headed north in 2022 to join the Brisbane Broncos.

2015

Two days after the Blues suffered a 52-6 Origin drubbing, Raiders five-eighth Blake Austin produces a performance which some thought would result in NSW selection. He scored a hat-trick as the Raiders beat Newcastle 36-22. He was overlooked for Origin selection.

2019

New South Wales claim back-to-back State of Origin series victories for the first time since 2005 after a thrilling last-ditch win over Queensland at ANZ Stadium. With less than 60 seconds remaining and the game seemingly headed for a golden point finish, Blues fullback James Tedesco finishes a long-distance try to set up a 26-20 victory. Tedesco is named man of the match and winner of the Wally Lewis Medal as player of the series.

2020

South Sydney winger Dane Gagai scores the first hat-trick of his NRL career in the Rabbitohs' 18-10 defeat of Wests Tigers at Bankwest Stadium. Tigers five-eighth Josh Reynolds is reported for striking Souths centre Campbell Graham with his boot, while Rabbitohs fullback Latrell Mitchell is charged with striking Reynolds in retaliation. Both are suspended for two games.

2021

Days after announcing that Origin Three would be played in Newcastle, the ARL Commission is forced to relocate the game again after NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian rules out crowds attending the game after a spike in COVID-19 cases. The Commission decides to stage the game at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast where 27,000 fans could attend.
