Round 22 tips and previews

Sea Eagles v Wests Tigers, Thursday, 7.50pm at Lottoland

Brett Kimmorley says: Robbie Farah being out will take a fair bit of attack away from the Wests Tigers. A lot of their creativity and danger around the rucks will be gone. Maybe all the boosts of energy the Tigers got from Robbie's 300th and his retirement announcement are gone now. For Manly, the players will be extremely disappointed with the effort last week – they haven't had too many performances like that in 2019. Manly by 8

Titans v Eels, Friday, 6pm at Cbus Super Stadium

Brett Kimmorley says: The Titans scored a lot of points in attack last week, but once again they conceded too many. The big thing they need to do is work on how to defend. It looks like there are not many players having a go for them. I can't see that changing this week. It's a big game for Parramatta – top four aspirations are still there. The next four weeks for them are about finding their best style of football and having consistency. Eels by 10

Broncos v Panthers, Friday, 7.55pm at Suncorp Stadium

Brett Kimmorley says: Isn't it good that we are starting to see semi-final desperation. The Broncos were poor but found a way to win last week. This should be a really good battle between the forwards. Campbell-Gillard, Kenny and Fisher-Harris are playing some of their better football of the season in recent weeks. James Maloney's return from suspension helps the Panthers after Nathan Cleary had one of his best games of the season. The Panthers halves might just prove the difference. Panthers by 4

Knights v Cowboys, Saturday, 3pm at McDonald Jones Stadium

Brett Kimmorley says: You would think Newcastle should be good enough to win this game. But after losing six in a row, that doesn't seem to have made any difference to performances. I'm not really sure where Newcastle go now. Kalyn Ponga and Mitchell Pearce need to be the stars, but for that to happen the forwards really need to lay the foundation. At some stage, the Cowboys are going to pull off an upset and display some good form. They'll click one day, that day might be Saturday. Cowboys by 2

Sea Eagles v Wests Tigers - Round 22

Storm v Raiders, Saturday, 5.30pm at AAMI Park

Brett Kimmorley says: The Raiders will have come out of last week's loss knowing they are still contenders with the Roosters. Now they are testing themselves against the Storm. The Storm were great last week. The first 20 minutes from Jesse Bromwich and Nelson Asofa-Solomona was probably the best 20 minutes I've seen from any front rowers in 2019. If the Raiders are to win, they need to prevent a fast start from the Storm. The pace of this game should be unbelievable. Storm by 2

Rabbitohs v Bulldogs, Saturday, 7.35pm at ANZ Stadium

Brett Kimmorley says: Canterbury are going to spoil a few parties in the back part of this season. They have found a way to grind away defensively, they are not leaking a lot of points. They're also starting to find their niche in attack. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has been a huge buy for them. They now have that bit of strike with he and Will Hopoate. For the Rabbitohs, Cody Walker looked back to his best last week. For South Sydney fans that is a good sight. Rabbitohs by 8

Celebrating the women at the heart of Rugby League

Roosters v Warriors, Sunday, 2pm at SCG

Brett Kimmorley says: For the Warriors, it is their season on the line. Last week they played to a level where you go "Wow, they're good and they can make the eight." But the key for them is consistency. It will be interesting to see if they get carried away with themselves after last week. The Roosters will challenge you in the middle and run and play at a high pace. For them, they need to get Jared Waerea-Hargreaves to get some consistent game time heading into the finals. Sharks v Dragons, Sunday, 4.05pm at PoinsBet Stadium

Brett Kimmorley says: The Dragons won last week, but they also leaked a lot of points against an ordinary Titans side. They will need to be better. This is big brother against little brother – form can go out the window in matches like this. Cronulla were pretty poor last week with energy and execution. This is a must-win game for the Sharks. Matt Moylan's return will really help Cronulla with their creativity. Sharks by 2
