Jake Friend, Josh & Brett Morris extend for season 2021

Sydney Roosters captain Jake Friend as well as brothers Brett Morris and Josh Morris have each penned a one-year extension with the Roosters which will keep the trio with the Club until at least the end of the 2021 season.

Friend, who made his Queensland debut in the opening match of this year‘s State of Origin Series last night, said:

“I’m very proud to represent the Sydney Roosters. The Club and the people we have at the Roosters mean a lot to me and it’s exciting to know that I’ll continue to play my role here,” said Friend.

Friend to join Club legends

A product of the Roosters Pathway Program, Friend joined the Club as a 15-year-old before making his NRL debut in 2008. He has played 263 games to date.

Friend was appointed co-captain in 2014 and is the second-longest serving captain in the Club’s history behind only Brad Fittler.

One of the most experienced finishers in the game, winger Brett Morris, who joined the Roosters in 2019, said:

“From day one, I’ve loved every minute here at the Roosters. The Club gave me a lifeline and it’s certainly been a very memorable couple of years here, so I’m really happy to re-commit for 2021.”

Brett has played 269 games so far in his career, 32 of those with the Roosters.

Older twin Josh, who made his Club debut in Round 3 of the 2020 season, has also extended with the Roosters for the 2021 season, adding:

“Playing with my brother was a big draw for me, but since arriving at the Roosters, I’m enjoying being part of the Club and I still feel like there’s plenty I can contribute going forward, so I’m extremely pleased to be part of the squad here in 2021.”

Josh celebrated his 300th NRL match in Round 17 of the 2020 NRL season, with 305 NRL games to date.
