Four leading Australian acts will headline the entertainment through the Ampol State of Origin Series, beginning with a night spectacular at the MCG featuring The Veronicas.

The Veronicas will perform prior to Game One in Melbourne on June 9, while Brisbane’s own Sheppard will headline Game Two at Suncorp Stadium on June 27. The final match of the series, on July 14 at Stadium Australia, will feature Lime Cordiale alongside JK-47.

The Veronicas are a multi-platinum, multi-ARIA award winning pop duo featuring twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso.

"As young girls growing up, we watched the State of Origin every year with our Dad, cheering on Queensland,” said Lisa and Jessica, who hail from Brisbane.

“It's a dream come true to play at this iconic sporting event. We know the vital role music plays in hyping and motivating audiences and players, so we intend to show Australia that two girls from Brisbane can do it loud and proud at the MCG."

In June, the Veronicas are embarking on their first national tour in six years, and have just announced their third big Melbourne show. Tickets are available at live nation.com.au.

Sheppard, an Indie pop band featuring siblings George, Amy and Emma Sheppard, said: “It’s such an honour to have been offered the pre-game entertainment for the State of Origin.

“We love a hometown crowd, we love Queensland, and after the year we've all had, to be back playing and cheering on our team at Suncorp Stadium, it's a bit of a dream to be honest.

“We're so very grateful to be playing a show of this magnitude, and we can't wait to light up the crowd on June 27th.”

Lime Cordiale’s Oliver Leimbach added: “We’re stoked to be playing at the State of Origin this year. A show can’t get much bigger this."

The 2021 Ampol State of Origin series is as follows:

  • Game I: Wednesday 9 June Melbourne Cricket Ground, VIC
  • Game II: Sunday 27 June Suncorp Stadium, QLD
  • · Game III: Wednesday 14 July Stadium Australia, NSW
