Marquee stars named as inaugural Titans NRLW signings

Five of the most Influential players in the women’s game will represent the Gold Coast Titans after being named as marquee signings for the 2021 NRLW season.

The Titans will join the competition this season, with Tazmin Gray, Karina Brown, Georgia Hale, Brittany Breayley-Nati and Crystal Tamarua named as the inaugural signings.

Gold Coast NRLW Coach Jamie Feeney says he is thrilled that these five players will be Titans.

“All five of our marquee signings are international representatives and bring plenty of NRLW experience,” Feeney said.

“Most important is their passion and intent for the club, they want to play for the Titans, to represent this region and want to make the Gold Coast proud.

“We’ll continue to build our squad over the coming weeks, but we have no doubt that with players of this calibre that we will be contesting for the NRLW Premiership this season.”

Gray won the Nellie Doherty Medallist as the player of the match in Queensland’s State of Origin victory over New South Wales.

The 25-year-old backrower was part of the Burleigh Bears BHP Premiership winning side and joins the Titans after most recently playing for the New Zealand Warriors.

Brown has achieved almost everything in the game.  The 32-year-old outside back has been part of two World Cup winning squads with the Australian Jillaroos and has represented Queensland on six occasions.  She also won the BHP Premiership with the Burleigh Bears this year and most recently played for the New Zealand Warriors.

Hale is a New Zealand Kiwi Ferns representative and former Captain of the New Zealand Warriors.  The 25-year-old lock forward can also play in the halves and at hooker.  A champion sportswoman who has represented New Zealand in four sports, Hale was also named 2020 Young New Zealander of the year for her exceptional off-field work.  She played for the Tweed Seagulls in the BHP Premiership competition.

Breayley-Nati returns to the NRLW competition after sitting out the 2020 season due to family and work commitments.  She’s a former Dally M female player of the year winner, having claimed the honour in 2018.  The 30-year-old hooker was part of the Jillaroos World Cup winning side in 2017 and is another to have won the BHP Premiership this season with the Burleigh Bears.

Crystal Tamarua rounds out the Burleigh connection, another to taste success this year with the Bears.  The 25-year-old forward can play both in the middle and on an edge and joins the Titans after three seasons with the New Zealand Warriors.  Tamarua joins Hale as a New Zealand Kiwi Ferns representative.

The Gold Coast Titans will announce further squad members over coming weeks as the club builds towards the 2021 NRLW season.
