The Manly Sea Eagles and Penrith Panthers advanced to the NRL Telstra Premiership preliminary finals with contrasting victories in Mackay.

Des Hasler's men will square off with the Rabbitohs on Friday after totally outclassing a Roosters side which finally ran out of gas after showing incredible resilience to make it to the semi-finals.

Tom Trbojevic was at his absolute best as Manly marched on with a seven-try romp.

On Saturday night the Panthers and Eels produced one of the best finals matches in recent memory with last year's runners-up prevailing 8-6.

Watching on as the Panthers and Eels slugged it out were the Storm, who will go into Saturday's preliminary final at Suncorp Stadium as warm favourites.
