Sold out Saturday for NRL Magic Round Brisbane

This year’s NRL Magic Round Brisbane, delivered by KFC, is set to be the biggest Rugby League festival ever, with the National Rugby League (NRL) today announcing that tickets for Saturday 14 May and three-day passes have already sold out. 

Following the enormous success of Magic Round in 2019 and 2021, the festival of footy, music, food and fun is returning to Suncorp Stadium on May 13-15.  

With Saturday now sold out, fans can still be part of the action by purchasing single-day tickets for Friday and Sunday, starting from just $49 for adults.

“NRL Magic Round Brisbane 2022 is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet,” NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said.

“It’s the first time ever that we’ve seen a day completely sell out and shows the excitement that fans have for this extraordinary celebration of Rugby League.

"Magic Round is an experience like no other – the chance to see superstars from all 16 NRL teams, in one place over one weekend, is truly unique in Australian sport.

“With remaining tickets for Friday and Sunday selling quickly, we’re encouraging fans to act now and help make this the most unreal weekend of footy we’ve ever seen.”

Excitement for Magic Round is also set to deliver a major boost in tourism for Queensland, with close to 30,000 fans expected to arrive in Brisbane from interstate and New Zealand.

Queensland Tourism and Sport Minister, Stirling Hinchliffe, said the NRL’s Magic Round 2022 was poised to become a record breaker. 

“Filling Suncorp Stadium for Saturday’s edition of Magic Round is a first for Brisbane’s famous three-day festival of premiership football,” Mr Hinchliffe said. 

“Nothing beats the electrifying atmosphere of a Suncorp Stadium packed to the rafters with enthusiastic football fans.

“Magic Round Brisbane brings thousands of NRL supporters to Brisbane from across Queensland and interstate in a big win for tourism and hospitality businesses.

“This festival of football magic will sprinkle $20 million across Brisbane for our Covid-19 Economic Recovery Plan, and we know accommodation is selling fast.

“Saturday’s sell out makes Magic Round’s Friday and Sunday league line ups the hottest tickets in town.”

Deputy Mayor of Brisbane, Krista Adams, said she was not surprised tickets to Saturday’s Magic Round games had sold out.

“This result is precisely why our Council supports the Magic Round through Brisbane Economic Development Agency,” Cr Adams said.

“The concept of having a feast of football in the one location is drawing rugby league fans from across Queensland and Australia.

“This is great for fans but it's also fantastic for the Brisbane economy because it benefits local hotels, retailers and restaurants.”

Tickets remain for Friday evening’s double-header, as the Canterbury Bulldogs kick things off against the Newcastle Knights before the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles go head-to-head against hometown favourites, the Brisbane Broncos. 

Fans can also still secure their seats for Sunday’s blockbuster triple-header, which sees the Cronulla Sharks face the Canberra Raiders, the Sydney Roosters take on the Parramatta Eels, and Wests Tigers’ clash with the North Queensland Cowboys.
