Queensland

Injuries to forwards Tom Gilbert (shoulder) and Jai Arrow (ankle) and winger Selwyn Cobbo (hip) have forced coach Billy Slater into changes for Game Two. Cowboys star Jeremiah Nanai is back after missing the series opener due to suspension, while Titans big man Moeaki Fotuaika will make his first appearance since Game Three, 2021. Storm flyer Xavier Coates comes in on the wing for his first Origin since the opening match of last year's series when he suffered an ankle injury in the first half and was ruled out of the second and third games. Titans star AJ Brimson is 18th Man and Raiders prop Corey Horsburgh joins the side as 19th Man. Brimson played Game One and Game Three in 2021 when the Maroons pulled off a stunning series upset under the guidance of Wayne Bennett.

New South Wales

A blow for the Blues on Thursday with Latrell Mitchell again ruled out after failing to recover from a calf injury. Panthers centre Stephen Crichton comes into the starting side as he did in Game One and Bulldog Matt Burton has been called into the squad on as 18th Man. Mitchell hasn't played since the Rabbitohs' Round 12 clash against the Eels.

NSW have named two debutants with Cowboys hooker Reece Robson and Wests Tigers prop Stefano Utoikamanu to get their first taste of Origin off the bench. Robson becomes just the fourth Cowboys player to represent the Blues after Tim Brasher, Luke O'Donnell and James Tamou. Injuries to playmaker Nathan Cleary (hamstring) and hooker Api Koroisau (jaw) sees Eels halfback Mitch Moses take over in the No.7 jersey and Rabbitoh Damien Cook recalled in the No.9 jersey. Moses made his sole Origin appearance in the third game of the 2021 series while Cook played 15 straight games for NSW between 2017 and 2022 before being overlooked for Game One. Back-rower Liam Martin may need NSW officials to allow him not to train before Origin II after suffering a head knock in Saturday night's win over the Roosters. With the incident classified as a category one HIA, Martin faces an 11-day stand down period, which will enable him to play at Suncorp on June 21. Sharks playmaker Nicho Hynes and Bulldogs forward Tevita Pangai Junior have been omitted from the side that lost Game One in Adelaide.

Stat Attack

The Blues have only once won Game Two at Suncorp after losing Game One of the series. That win came in Game 2 of the 1998 season in a side captained by Laurie Daley and featuring Brad Fittler at lock. In total the Blues have gone to Suncorp on four occasions needing to win to stay in the series. They suffered defeats in 1988, 2010 and 2016 but got home 26-10 in Game Two of the 1998 series before going on to lose the third and deciding game in Sydney.
