Vale Kevin Brasch AM

Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) Chairman Peter V’landys AM today paid tribute to ARL Life Member Kevin Brasch AM, who has passed away aged 91.

Brasch was a life member of the Australian Rugby League, Queensland Rugby League, Norths Devils and Queensland Primary Schools Rugby League. He was also made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his significant service to rugby league football, at the local, state and national level, in 2015.

During his long and distinguished career as an administrator, Brasch was ARL Chairman as well as Chairman of Brisbane South-East Division, while also managing Queensland and national teams on Australian soil and overseas. He was also founding Chair of the QRL History Committee in 2008.

“When Kevin Brasch was honoured by being made a Member of the Order of Australia, his first reaction was to be pleased that Rugby League received recognition,” Mr V’landys said.

“That sums Kevin up. He was one of the most passionate and staunch supporters of the game you could find, considering the impact on the sport itself over personal achievement.

“His impact on Rugby League was significant over many decades and through many eras.

“On behalf of the Commission, I extend our sincerest condolences to Kevin’s family, and all those who knew him.”
