Brisbane Tigers will begin their quest for back-to-back BMD Premiership titles with a home clash against the Norths Devils at Totally Workwear Stadium.
Following their undefeated season in 2025, the Tigers will start the new season as one of the teams to beat when the women’s statewide competition kicks off across the weekend of June 6-7.
Premiership-winning coach Rhett Tronc has committed to the club for a further two years, while star fullback Tahlia Marshall and skipper Kelsey Parkin will also return in Tigers’ colours next season.
The Tigers will come up against a committed Devils team in Round 1.
Expectations are high at the Bishop Park club following the return of Meg Ward as Devils head coach.
Norths finished the 2025 season in sixth spot, earning a week one finals appearance against the Burleigh Bears, who prevailed in consecutive finals matches to qualify for the premiership decider.
While Burleigh couldn’t take the last step in the grand final against the Tigers, they’ll be better for the experience and will look to get their season off to a flyer in Round 1 against the Sunshine Cost Falcons.
Both the Tigers and Bears will have to wait until Round 10 for their grand final re-match.
After qualifying for the semi-finals in just their first season in the BMD Premiership, the Northern Pride and Ipswich Jets are two teams expected to compete strongly in 2026.
The Pride host the Souths Logan Magpies in Round 1, while Ipswich plays the Mackay Cutters, another team expected to improve under new coach Matt Sanders.
Tweed opens their campaign against the Western Clydesdales at Seagulls Sporting Complex, while the Wynnum Manly Seagulls welcome the Central Queensland Capras to BMD Kougari Oval.
Near year’s finals series will be played under a top eight system, ensuring more clubs will experience finals footy when the play-offs commence on the weekend of September 6-7.
The BMD Premiership finals draw also aligns with the Hostplus Cup, with the top two teams in each competition progressing to their respective grand finals on the final weekend of September.
