Jasmine Peters is looking forward the NRLW season ahead full of confidence after a stellar performance for Queensland in their hard-fought 12-4 loss to New South Wales in the series finale.

The Cowboys centre put a disappointing Game Two performance behind her to bounce back in a big way, scoring her side’s only try, preventing another with some committed defence and taking 11 tough runs to help her side out of trouble.

Jasmine Peters Try

Once again playing on wing for the Maroons in this year’s series, Peters said while it was not her normal position, she had done a lot of work to capitalise on her opportunities in this game.

The Indigenous All Stars representative said she also valued the versatility it would give her going into the upcoming season.

“I felt a lot more connected with our edge, and it really shows the work that we put in during training,” Peters said.

“That's definitely a credit to the girls and the staff as well, just believing in me and for myself to actually have that belief as well.

“It's always hard playing out of position, but having the belief from coaching staff to do what I can do, obviously showed on the field tonight.

“I'll always be a harsh critic, and that's what comes with professional sport, but I think breaking it down, (in Game Two) it was opportunities that were created in a split second,” Peters said on the tries she missed out on in the last game.

“But it also just comes to again that reps in that position and again, credit to the coaches for believing in me to be able to do what I could do (tonight).

“It definitely instils some belief and confidence in myself to be able to be a versatile player at different levels, especially at a high level as Origin.

“I think as an outside back, you're pretty much a utility in all those positions and I think any little skill can be transferable to different positions.

“That's what I'll take away from this camp, that I've got to work on a little bit of craft in different positions that will help me in the future.”

Peters heroics stops Fressard

Only into her second Origin campaign, Peters said despite the 0-3 result, the Maroons camp were looking to forward to what was to come, with many stars of the future including Chantay Kiria-Ratu, Destiny Mino-Sinapati and Phoenix-Raine Hippi unearth.

“Obviously it's disappointing not to come away with a win when we were so close, but it's just fuel in our belly for next year,” Peters said.

“We put our all out there and obviously it doesn't show in the stats and stuff like that.

“But the heart that we have and being such a young and inexperienced team compared to the Blues, to be so close by a try or two, I think that just shows what we have and what we can grow.

“I think it's just so incredibly exciting to see what we have and we haven't even hit our threshold or potential just yet.

“As much as that is hard saying now after not being able to execute on those opportunities, but it is so exciting to see the talent that we have coming through.”
