Did James Tedesco's match winning heroics in Origin I put him in the frame for a Kangaroos recall at Rugby League World Cup 2026 ahead of Reece Walsh and Dylan Edwards?

Is there a place in the Australian squad for Ethan Strange? What about Sam Walker? And don't forget that Tom Dearden will be back before the World Cup.

Who plays lock - Isaah Yeo, Cameron Murray or Pat Carrigan? Or can they all be accommodated in the team?

Liam Martin didn't play in last year's Ashes series but is set to return from injury for the Panthers. Ditto for Rabbitohs superstar Latrell Mitchell and Manly's Tom Trbojevic.

Built for Origin

These are the dilemmas that recently re-appointed Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters and the Australian selectors have to deal with as they look towards the opening match of RLWC2026 against the Kiwis at Allianz Stadium on October 15.

Now you can have a say with the RLWC2026.com Rolling 'Roos poll.

Vote for your Kangaroos team after each State of Origin match.

NSW and Queensland players have been nominated along with others who are likely to be in contention but missed selection or were unavailable like Walsh, Mitchell, Edwards, Josh Addo-Carr, Jacob Preston and Jackson Ford.

The Kangaroos kick off RLWC2026 with a trans-Tasman showdown against Pacific Cup champions New Zealand at Allianz Stadium on October 15, which is likely to determine the top spot in Pool A.

Australia then play Fiji Bati at Suncorp Stadium on October 25 and Cook Islands in Townsville on October 31, with the semi-finals in Sydney and Newcastle and the final in Brisbane on November 15.

Walker shines on debut
