After going within an ace of claiming man of the match honours on Origin debut in Game One, Maroons halfback Sam Walker took home the gong with another majestic performance in Melbourne.

Playing in front of an all-time Origin record crowd of 91,671 at the iconic MCG, Walker was perfect with the boot with eight goals from eight attempts and chalked up 444 kick metres.

The 24-year-old Rooster has launched his Origin career in spectacular fashion with two dazzling displays, tormenting the Blues with his off-the-cuff brilliance.

Walker's combination with skipper Cameron Munster and hooker Harry Grant had the Maroons attack humming in the second half as they piled on six tries in 25 minutes to blow the Blues away.

Sam Walker named Player of the Match

Former Blues coach Phil Gould said on Channel Nine post-match that the Maroons are "more courageous with the ball, more skilful, more willing to support play and throw those passes and kick the ball on early tackles".

"They are just more courageous with their attacking football," Gould said.

Maroons legend Cameron Smith paid tribute to Walker's composure and described his short kicking game as "spectacular".

"It's like he has played 20 Origins not two," Smith said on Nine.

Selwyn Cobbo 2nd Try

The Maroons completed a stunning 39 of 42 sets at 92 per cent and took control in the second half as Walker and Munster unleashed Selwyn Cobbo and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow.

Cobbo ran for 199 metres and had seven tackle breaks to go with a hat-trick that took his career tally to five tries in eight Origin games.

Queensland will head to home turf at Suncorp Stadium full of confidence for the July 8 decider while the Blues must regroup after conceding seven tries and seven line breaks and making 12 errors.
