Game-Day Anxiety

Anxiety can really affect your preparation.

Game-day anxiety affects people in different ways, however the most common symptoms can involve:

  • pounding or racing heartbeat
  • shortness of breath
  • sweating
  • dry mouth or throat
  • diarrhoea
  • muscle aches and pains in the neck or shoulders
  • an excessive fear or worry
  • distress in social situations
  • racing mind or blank mind
  • unable to concentrate

All of these things can be passed off as ‘nerves’. Being anxious is a really common feeling when preparing for something important, especially for players preparing for big matches.
