Eight was great , but the Queensland Women's rugby league team is hoping to add to the record set by the men's State of Origin team and make it 17 in a row when they take on New South Wales in the upcoming Interstate Challenge.

The Queensland team was announced this week, following the conclusion of the women's state divisional carnival.

The Interstate Challenge will be played in Townsville at 1300Smiles Stadium on Saturday 27 June, kicking off at 2:45pm as the curtain raiser to the match between the Cowboys and the Sharks.

National Rugby League Head of Football Todd Greenberg was delighted by the growing interest and crowds supporting women in Rugby League and announced that Fox Sports would broadcast the Interstate Challenge later this month.

"The match promises to be another tough and entertaining encounter between the two teams and for those that can't make it to the match, you can watch all the action on a Fox Sports replay the following day," said Mr Greenberg.

Tickets for the Interstate Challenge, together with the round 16 Cowboys v Sharks match, can be purchased from nrl.com/tickets, with the match to be replayed on Fox Sports on Sunday 28 June.  Check your local guides for further details.
