Broncos NRLW Award Winners Announced

Front row powerhouse Millie Boyle has backed up her Dally M Medal with being named Broncos NRLW Player Of The Year at a gala function in Brisbane.

Boyle, who also received the Broncos Forward Of The Year trophy, was awarded her accolades tonight at the club’s NRLW Presentation Night at The Grove in Brisbane’s CBD.

NRLW Player of The Year: Millie Boyle

The 23-year-old prop ran for a staggering 198 metres while making 23 tackles per game – she also averaged 18 hit-ups per game and racked up 14 tackles busts and three tries across the five games she played.

Tireless hooker and goalkicker Lauren Brown was a deserving winner of the coveted Players’ Player Award, with both her attacking and defensive work around the ruck as well as her astute kicking game all highlights across the season.

Electric centre Shenae Ciesiolka received the Back Of The Year for a breakthrough season that included four tries, four try assists and 13 tackle breaks.

The No.4’s try against the Knights – where backrower Amber Hall offloaded near the halfway to Hayley Maddick, who shifted the ball to Ciesiolka to make a break and feed it to fullback Tamika Upton, who in turn found Ciesiolka backing up inside to score – was adjudged the Broncos’ Play Of The Year.

Speedy winger Emily Bass was named Rookie Of The Year – the former top-class hurdler who joined the Broncos from Queensland Reds rugby union bagging four tries in her five appearances with a string of elite diving finishes in the right corner.

The other trophy winner for the night was winger Julia Robinson, who took out the Coaches’ Award.

Robinson’s high levels of professionalism saw her start the season as the team’s fittest player, only for her to break her cheekbone in the opening game but then recover in time, and in great shape, to be one of the best on ground in the Semi-Final against the Roosters.
