- Biography:
Growing up in a family of NRL players, Billy Walters developed a passion for rugby league from a young age — so much so that he would go to bed wearing his football boots.
After playing for the Wests Panthers in junior rugby league and representing his school in rugby union, Walters was signed by the Melbourne Storm where he made his NRL debut in 2019.
Following two seasons with the Wests Tigers, he returned home to Brisbane in 2022 and quickly established himself as a consistent first-grade performer.
His versatility at hooker or five-eighth proved invaluable during the Broncos’ 2025 premiership-winning campaign.
Across the season, Walters scored seven tries, produced eight try assists, 15 offloads and made 528 tackles at nearly 90 per cent efficiency.
His season ended prematurely after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the qualifying final win over the Raiders, but his impact was undeniable.
Captain Adam Reynolds acknowledged him after the Grand Final victory as an integral part of the team’s success in 2025.
