Kalyn Ponga's return sparked a sensational Knights win over the Cowboys while Gold Coast's emphatic win over Canberra was tarnished by a dangerous contact charge for David Fifita which could prevent the back-rower from playing in Origin III.

The Dragons rose from the dead to score two late tries to force extra time against the Warriors before Corey Norman won the game with a field goal.

The round finished on Sunday with the Broncos causing a boilover to beat Cronulla in Brisbane while Souths proved too strong for the Wests Tigers at Leichhardt.
