Lotte Weiss Scholarship
The Lotte Weiss Scholarship was created in 2022 to support Indigenous education through the NRL School to Work Program.
The Scholarship aims to successfully assist participants transition to further education through University in assisting with the financial barriers for the first year of University.
The Scholarship, totalling $10,000 is open to students participating in the NRL School to Work Program who are applying for an undergraduate University course for the year that follows the completion of their year 12 studies.
2025 Recipients – Lila Dunn and Travis Pankhurst
Lila, a proud Kamilaroi and Wiradjuri woman, began her Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Monash University this year, with aspirations of becoming a doctor. Since joining the NRL School to Work Program in 2023, she has embraced every opportunity available and this scholarship being no exception.
Travis Pankhurst, a proud Wiradjuri man, is currently studying a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Business at Macquarie University. With ambitions to open a law firm on the Central Coast, Travis has also made the most of every opportunity presented through the School to Work Program since joining in 2023.
2024 Recipient – Lachlan Masters
Lachlan, a proud Wiradjuri man with aspirations of becoming a doctor, started a Bachelor’s of Sports Science at the University of Newcastle this year chasing that very dream. After joining the NRL School to Work Program in 2022, Lachlan has taken every opportunity with both hands and this scholarship was no different.
This is the third year of the Lotte Weiss Scholarship with the calibre of applications continuing to grow each year. Lachlan was selected based on his outstanding academic achievements, community engagement and desire to positively impact the wider community, and was presented with the scholarship by Gary at the Sydney Jewish Museum.
I am extremely humbled and grateful to be selected as this year’s recipient and through this process. I have come to learn so much about Lotte and her story which has inspired me beyond words – I will be sure to carry on her positive attitude and mindset as I continue with my studies.

2023 – Maripa Teo
Meripa is studying a Bachelor of Engineering, and through the NRL School to Work Program has secured a Cadetship with Bluescope Steel as a Materials Engineer. This scholarship will support Meripa with the financial support she may need within her first year of university.
I'm extremely grateful to be here today, it's an opportunity that I didn't think I was capable of achieving, but look where we are today.
