Manly young gun Joey Walsh has taken another major step towards become the club's long-term halfback by signing a two-year extension with the Sea Eagles.

Already contracted through to the end of next year, the new deal means Walsh will remain on the Northern Beaches until at least the end of the 2029 season.

The 20-year-old halfback made his NRL debut in the final round of last year and has impressed in two starting appearances this season.

He will continue to develop under starting halfback Jamal Fogarty before eventually stepping into the No.7 jumper.

"Joey’s a very special talent and we are super excited to see him continue his development into the player we all know he can be," Manly coach Kieran Foran said.

"He’s a wonderful young man who is well liked and respected by his teammates and everyone involved with the club.

"He’s a player who works really hard on his craft, he has a thirst for knowledge, and I can see a very bright future for Joey here at the Sea Eagles."

The Wests Tigers have added major strike out wide after signing Jake Averillo on a four-year deal.

The contract will see the Dolphins centre return to Sydney next season on a deal that takes him through to the end of 2030.

A crafty centre who can score tries and set them up, Averillo will add a new dynamic to an exciting Tigers backline.

"I’m excited to be joining the Tigers and working under Benji and his team," Averillo said.

"I’ve seen the way the club has been building over the past few seasons, and after speaking with Benji, I’m looking forward to being part of the journey.

"The club has some quality players signed long-term and I’m keen to playing alongside them and help bring success to the Tigers."

Meanwhile, Titans forward Klese Haas has added a further two years to his contract, carrying him through to the end of 2029.

Now in his fifth NRL season, Haas makes his 74th appearance for the Titans in Friday's clash against the Bulldogs.

"Klese is a great example of what can be achieved through our pathways system," said Titans coach Josh Hannay.

"He came through Keebra Park and has worked incredibly hard to establish himself as a NRL player since his first grade debut a few years ago.

"Whilst perhaps underrated externally, internally we value everything Klese brings to the table and see his best football still in front of him, especially with his positional switch to the middle this year."

Veteran Broncos playmaker Ben Hunt will extend his NRL career into a 19th season after signing a one-year extension for 2027.

Hunt debuted at Brisbane in 2009 and played nine seasons at Red Hill before joining the Dragons for seven seasons from 2018-24.

He returned to the Broncos in 2025 and helped the club to its first premiership since 2006.

The 36-year-old has played 365 NRL games, 20 Origins for Queensland and six Tests for Australia.

“The Broncos have always been home for me and I’m incredibly grateful for everything this club has given me over the years,” said Hunt, who is fourth on the all-time list of matches played behind Cameron Smith, Darren Lockyer and Daly Cherry-Evans.

“I love being part of this group, I still feel like I’ve got plenty to offer and my body feels great.

“I really enjoy helping the younger players develop and navigate their own journeys in the NRL."

The Perth Bears have continued their roster build for their inaugural season, signing Mavrik Geyer on a two-year deal from 2027.

The forward follows in the footsteps of his father Mark, who spent three seasons in Perth during his career.

Mavrik made his NRL debut for the Panthers in 2024 before joining the Wests Tigers this year and he's excited about the chance to move west.

"It’s a pretty special moment for our family to have the chance to represent the Bears in their first season,” Geyer said.

"Dad loved his time in Perth, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to represent the proud people of Western Australia.

"I know how passionate they are about their sport and I can’t wait to run onto HBF Park next season."

At the Titans, utility Kurtis Morrin has signed a contract extension through to the end of 2029.

Morrin joined the Titans from the Bulldogs at the start of this season and has racked up five tries in 13 games, including a superb solo effort in the upset win over the Panthers.

"From the moment I arrived, I've loved being part of this group," said Morrin.

"We're building something special here with all the emerging talent we’ve got coming through and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of that journey.

"I’ve loved improving my game under Josh and all the coaching staff and want to contribute with whatever role I can to bring success to this club and community.

"I see a bright future here at the Titans and to be locked in until the end of 2029 is exciting for me and my family. I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together."

The Sea Eagles have signed Wests Tigers centre Starford To'a on a two-year deal commencing in 2027.

The outside back has been granted a release from the final two years of his contract, paving the way for a move to Manly next season.

“This is my fifth season at the Tigers, and I want to make the most of the time I have left here,” Toa said.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunity at the Sea Eagles and I know I will be super excited to join Manly once my job here is done.”

To’a played alongside current Manly stars Haumole Olakau’atu and Tolu Koula when he made his international debut for Tonga in 2023.

Broncos back Jesse Arthars will move to the Super League at the end of the season after signing a two-year deal with French club Catalans Dragons.

The 27-year-old, who can play winger, fullback or centre, will reunite with former Broncos assistant coach John Cartwright in Perpignan.

“I’m super excited to be joining the Catalans Dragons for the next couple of seasons," Arthars said. "Looking forward to representing the club, the fans, embracing the culture and exploring the south of France. Allez Les Dragons! ”

Arthars was born in Auckland before he moved to the Gold Coast with his family at age 11.

A promising outside back, Arthars topped the points tally in the NRL’s Under-20s competition and made his first-grade debut with the Titans in 2019.

Arthars joined the Broncos the following year and has since become a mainstay of the squad, playing 74 games and earning a reputation for his powerful kick returns and clinical finishes on the wing.

After a blistering start to the 2025 season, he was rewarded with selection in his first Queensland State of Origin squad ahead of Game 1.

An NRL Premiership winner in 2025, he has scored 43 tries in 107 NRL appearances and has also earned four caps for the Māori All Stars.

Cartwright, who recently took over as Catalans Dragons head coach, said: “I have worked with Jesse at the Broncos. He’s a class player on and off the field. He is a good character and a hard worker in the peak of his career. It’s a major statement signing by the club”.

The Sea Eagles extended fullback Clayton Faulalo for a further two years through to the end of 2029.

Faulalo has been in career-best form this season whether playing fullback, centre or on the wing. In his past eight games he has scored six tries, added six try assists, and made seven line breaks.

“He’s a terrific footy player that’s for sure, and a very important part of this team,” said coach Kieran Foran.

“He’s got a wonderful energy about him, he is a great character."

The Cowboys have announced the re-signing of dummy-half Soni Luke for the 2027 NRL season.

Luke joined the Cowboys in January after securing a release from a pre-season deal with South Sydney.

The Tongan International came through the Penrith Panthers system and made his NRL debut in 2022.

Rising Roosters forward Siua Wong has signed a two-year extension that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2028 season.

The Tongan representative has emerged as one of the most improved back-rowers in the competition this year and is set to play a key role in the Rooster's push for a premiership.

Having made his debut for the club in 2023, the 23-year-old is excited to extend his time with the tri-colours.

"The Roosters have been a huge part of my life for a long time, so it's really special to be able to extend my time here, Wong said.

"I've come through the Academy and been fortunate to learn from so many great coaches, staff and players along the way. This club has helped shape me both as a footballer and as a person.

"I'm proud to represent the Roosters and excited about what we're building as a group. I can't wait to keep working hard and hopefully contribute to more success for the club over the coming years."

Meanwhile, Bulldogs winger Marcelo Montoya has announced he will retire from the NRL at the end of the 2026 season.

Montoya made his first-grade debut in 2017 for the Bulldogs and has gone on to play 162 games, including 82 at the Warriors and 80 for Canterbury.

After four seasons at the Warriors (2021-24), Montoya returned to the Bulldogs and has proven a key member of Cameron Ciraldo’s squad, playing 26 games across the last two years.

“I started my career here so it feels right to also finish it as a Bulldog,” Montoya said.

“From the kid running around for the Bankstown Bulls to playing in NRL finals series’ and representing my culture on the biggest stages, I’ll be forever grateful for the opportunities rugby league have given myself and my family."

Rookie Broncos playmaker Tom Duffy has extended his time in Brisbane for another two-seasons, with the 22-year-old signing a contract extension through until the end of 2028.

The Townsville product initially joined the Broncos from the Cowboys on a one-year deal ahead of the 2026 season.

Duffy made his Broncos debut in Round 6 against his former club, and produced an impressive performance that included two try assists, five goals and a field goal.

He has played four more matches since, including the past two games against the Titans and Rabbitohs at five-eighth.

The NRL's leading tryscorer Tom Jenkins has signed a three-year contract extension with the Penrith Panthers.

The new deal will see the winger remain with the Panthers until at least the end of the 2029 NRL season.

Hailing from Boorowa, the Young Cherrypickers junior first joined the Panthers ahead of the 2020 season before making his NRL debut against the Cowboys in 2022. He has since played 45 first grade matches.

Jenkins enjoyed a standout 2025 campaign, earning the Members Player of the Year award and the John Farragher Award for Courage and Determination.

This season he leads the NRL with 20 tries from 13 appearances, while also ranking first in the competition for line-breaks with 22.

The winger has totalled 2,609 running metres this season—the third-most in the NRL—at an average of more than 200 metres per game.

The Perth Bears have landed the prized signature of one of the most exciting prospects in rugby league with confirmation Mason Barber will join the club on a three-year deal to start in 2027.

The 20-year-old represented the Australian Schoolboys in 2024 and is a graduate of the prestigious Keebra Park State High School.

Hailing from the Northland region in New Zealand, Barber joins the Bears from the North Queensland Cowboys system.

Barber possesses blistering speed, strength and the ball playing ability that coach Mal Meninga believes will make an immediate impact for the Perth Bears next season and beyond.

Barber's signing follows the club's decision to offer Perth-born outside back Ammaron “AJ” Gudgeon a train and trial contract. Gudgeon is first North Sydney Bears player to be offered a deal with the Perth Bears.

Livewire Trai Fuller has extended his contract with the Dolphins through to the end of the 2027 season.

Fuller has been part of the Dolphins since the club’s inaugural NRL campaign, joining on a full-time train-and-trial deal in 2023 before forcing his way into the NRL squad.

The 29-year-old has racked up 19 NRL matches across the past four seasons, making an impact every time he is called up to the top grade.

Meanwhile, the Sharks have extended the contract of Will Kennedy, with the talented fullback committing to the club for the 2027 season.

A mainstay for the Sharks at the back, Kennedy made his NRL debut in 2019, before becoming a regular fixture in the club’s number one jersey from 2020 onwards.

Kennedy has gone on to play 145 games in the NRL for the Cronulla club and looks forward to continuing to contribute to the success of the Sharks for the remainder of this year and into the 2027 season.

At the Titans, Queensland Under 19 representative Tyler Pereira has been signed through until the end of 2029.

A product of the club’s pathways system, the 19-year-old has emerged as one of Gold Coast’s most promising young prospects, impressing through the junior representative ranks with his athleticism and attacking flair.

Meanwhile, Warriors forward Morgan Gannon will return home to England at the end of the 2026 season.

Warriors CEO Cameron George confirmed the club had agreed to Gannon’s request to be released from the final two years of his contract due to personal circumstances.

The Bulldogs have locked down a trio of emerging stars, with Enari TualaJed Reardon and AJ Jones all re-signing with the club.

Tuala has inked a two-year extension through to the end of 2028, while Reardon and Jones have signed fresh one-year deals. Jones will join the top squad in 2027, with Reardon part of the development squad.

The Knights have locked down one of the most promising forwards in the game, signing Dylan Lucas to a three-year extension.

Originally contracted through to 2027, the back-rower will now remain in Newcastle until at least the end of 2030.

The deal comes on the back of an impressive start to the season, with Lucas earning a place in the Blues squad for the opening game of the State of Origin series.

The Dragons have confirmed Emre Guler will depart the club at the end of the season, the forward signing a three-year deal with Super League club Wakefield Trinity.

Connor Watson has been unveiled as the latest signing for new NRL team the PNG Chiefs, but will also make a stopover with St George Illawarra after being granted an early release by the Roosters.

And the Chiefs have also confirmed the signing of England prop Matty Lees from St Helens for their entry into the NRL in 2028.

Watson will line up as player #003 for the Chiefs but will firstly complete a one-year deal for the 2027 season with St George Illawarra.

A Roosters statement said Watson will remain with the club for the remainder of the 2026 season and will continue to play an important role within the club's NRL squad after being granted an early release from the final year of his contract.

Lees, who has played 12 Tests for England - including last year's Ashes series against the Kangaroos - and 199 matches for St Helens, will move to Papua New Guinea at the end of the 2027 season.

The 28-year-old has been a key figure in St Helens’ Super League title-winning years from 2019 to 2022 and has also earned three League Leaders’ Shields, the 2021 Challenge Cup, and the 2023 World Club Challenge, among other honours.

The Dolphins have locked in prop Francis Molo for a further two seasons after he inked a new deal through to the end of 2028.

Molo joined the Dolphins in 2025 and has racked up 23 games for the club, taking his career tally to 161 matches since he debuted at the Broncos in 2014.

Sharks winger Sam Stonestreet has signed a new deal that keeps him at the club until at least the end of the 2029 season.

The 23-year-old debuted in Round 7, 2024 and has racked up 26 games for the Sharks, scoring 19 tries.

Stonestreet's retention comes on the back of news that Sione Katoa and Jesse Ramien were heading for the Cowboys in 2027.

The pair have played most of their careers together on Cronulla's right edge and will move to North Queensland for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.

Ramien made his NRL debut in 2017 for the Sharks and has since appeared in 176 NRL games over the course of 10 seasons. The 29-year-old has also made five appearances for the Indigenous All Stars.

Katoa has appeared in 134 NRL games since making his debut in 2018. His 85 tries rank fifth in Sharks history, with the 28-year-old surpassing Cronulla legend Mat Rogers earlier this season.

Katoa has also registered 10 Test appearances for Tonga.

Teen sensation Heamasi Makasini has extended his contract with Wests Tigers through until the end of the 2029 NRL season.

The Campbelltown City Kangaroos junior is currently signed through until the end of 2027, with this extension keeping Makasini at Concord for a further two seasons.

A product of the Wests Tigers Pathways, the 2024 Harold Matthews Cup Player of the Year has progressed through Harold Matthews, SG Ball Cup, Jersey Flegg, NSW Cup and into the NRL.

The announcement comes ahead of 18-year-old Makasini’s return to the NRL on Saturday against the Bulldogs, after missing recent rounds due to bone bruising in his foot.

Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall said it was exciting to have Makasini at the Club until 2029.

Broncos forward Preston Riki has put pen to paper on a two-year extension through to the end of 2028.

The club have also extended the time of fellow forward VJ Semu, who made his NRL debut this season, to the end of the 2028 season.

Meanwhile, Manly captain Jake Trbojevic has confirmed he will remain at Brookvale in 2027 - his 15th season at the Sea Eagles.

Trbojevic has played 251 games for Manly since making his NRL debut in 2013, as well as 19 Origins for NSW and 13 Tests for Australia.

Only Daly Cherry-Evans, Cliff Lyons, Steve Menzies, Anthony Watmough, Alan Thompson and Des Hasler have played more games for the Sea Eagles.

Cowboys winger Braidon Burns has inked a new deal through to the end of the 2028 season.

The 29-year-old has been a fixture in Todd Payten’s side since the beginning of the 2025 season after taking over the right-wing spot following Kyle Feldt’s departure.

Rabbitohs forward Jai Arrow has announced his immediate retirement from the NRL on medical grounds following a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

The 30-year-old played 178 NRL games since making his first-grade debut in 2016, as well as playing 12 State of Origin matches for Queensland.

“On medical advice, I am not currently medically cleared to train or play at the required level, and I will be stepping away from those duties while I focus fully on my health, treatment, and rehabilitation," Arrow said.

The Dragons have continued their recruitment drive, landing star playmaker Luke Metcalf on a three-year deal.

The halfback was contracted to the Warriors until the end of 2028 but has been granted an early release to join St George Illawarra from next season.

Metcalf joins a growing list of recruits arriving at the Dragons in 2027, with Scott Drinkwater, Phil Sami and Keaon Koloamatangi all signing with the club.

The 27-year-old led the Dally M count after 12 rounds last year before rupturing his ACL. Metcalf returned to the field earlier this season, however a hamstring injury has hampered his ability to break into the Warriors side.

The Titans have announced rising forward Arama Hau has signed a new deal to remain on the Gold Coast until the end of the 2028 season.

A proud Gold Coast product, the Nerang Roosters junior and Keebra Park alum has this season cemented himself in the NRL squad.

McEwen has re-signed for a further two seasons through to the end of the 2028 season.

Wests Tigers have announced that Sunia Turuva will remain with the club through until 2030.

Original contracted until the end of 2027, the Fiji international has put pen-to-paper on a three-year extension keeping him at Concord until at least the end of the 2030 NRL season.

His extension comes soon after fellow Tigers Jahream Bula and the May brothers – Taylan and Terrell – announced their plans to stay at Concord through to 2030 as well.

The Cowboys have re-signed playmaker Jake Clifford until the end of the 2028 season after he rose to the challenge to secure his first grade spot - and his future.

Meanwhile, Kumuls star Alex Johnston has become the second player to sign with the PNG Chiefs for their inaugural season in 2028.

The NRL's all-time leading try-scorer has long spoken about his dream of playing for an NRL franchise in the nation and it will now become reality after he inked a deal with the new team.

Johnston joins Jarome Luai at the Chiefs as they continue the process of building a roster from the ground up.

The Chiefs were able to negotiate with Johnston after South Sydney granted the winger permission to meet with the new club despite still being contracted through to the end of 2027.

Luai has activated a clause in his Wests Tigers contract, keeping the Samoa star at the club for the 2027 NRL season before joining PNG Chiefs.

The four-times premiership winner, who signed with the Wests Tigers ahead of the 2025 NRL season, advised the club of his intention to pursue an opportunity elsewhere and the Chiefs confirmed him as their first signing from 2028.

The Tigers have offset the loss of Luai with Fijian international Jahream Bula signing a four-year extension.

The new deal keeps the fullback at Concord until the end of 2030 and comes on the back of the announcement that Terrell and Taylan May had also re-signed through to 2030.

Meanwhile, Perth Bears have locked in two of the NRL’s most exciting prospects with confirmation Te Hurinui ‘Apa’ Twidle and Kit Laulilii have signed with the club for the 2027 season and beyond.

Twidle has signed for three years (2027,28 & 29), while Laulilii has signed with the Bears for two seasons (2027 & 28).

At 21 years of age, both players have shown enormous early potential as they transition from their respective junior programs into the NRL competition.

The Dragons have signed Scott Drinkwater to a three-year contract, with the dynamic fullback joining the club from the 2027 season through to the end of 2029.

One of the game’s most dangerous attacking players, Drinkwater will bring experience, creativity and a strike element to the Dragons as the club continues to build its roster for the future.

The Dragons have also announced the signing of Phil Sami from the Titans on a three-year deal from 2027.

Drinkwater and Sami join current Rabbitohs prop Keaon Koloamatangi as a major 2027 signing at the Red V.

Storm winger Will Warbrick will join the Warriors in 2027 to replace Super League-bound superstar Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, with Jamayne Isaako to fill his roster spot in Melbourne.

Isaako, a proven points-scorer and versatile backline option, brings a wealth of NRL experience, with 164 first-grade appearances across stints with the Dolphins, Gold Coast Titans and Brisbane Broncos.

The Storm have also announced the re-signing of young gun Cooper Clarke.

Premiership-winning Panther Luke Garner has inked a contract extension through to the end of the 2028 season.

The Sharks have re-signed journeyman secondrower Billy Burns for a further two years, ensuring he remains at Cronulla until the end of the 2028 season.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2025, playing a career-high 17 games and holding down a starting position throughout the finals.

Leeds prop Mikolaj Oledzki has become the third English star to commit to Perth Bears for their debut NRL season in 2027.

The Polish-born England international will join Leeds team-mates Harry Newman and James McDonnell in Perth on a three-year contract after the World Cup in October and November.

Oledzki, who was born in Gdansk in Poland and migrated to England as a nine-year-old, has earned nine Test caps – most recently in the 2025 Ashes Series.

Tongan international and former NSW Origin star Siosifa Talakai has joined Perth Bears on a three-year deal.

Talakai, who played two games for NSW in the 2022 State of Origin and represented Tonga at the World Cup that year, has played 133 NRL matches for the Sharks and Rabbitohs.

The signing of Talakai follows the recruitment of Panthers international Scott Sorensen ahead of the club's entry into the NRL next year.

Sorensen, who played in all four of Penrith's consecutive premiership wins, has signed a two-year deal with the Bears.

The Kiwis back-rower, whose wife Elle is from Perth, will be joined at the Bears by Panthers team-mate Liam Henry.

The 2026 season will be the last at the Warriors for representative prop Mitch Barnett after he was granted an early release from his contract for personal reasons. Barnett will join the Broncos in 2027.

Elsewhere, classy Tongan centre Tolutau Koula has signed a five-year contract extension that keeps at Manly until at least the end of 2031.

Koula is entering his fifth season with the Sea Eagles and is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he scored 17 tries in 22 appearance and was named the Roy Bull Player of the Year.

Broncos captain Adam Reynolds has confirmed that he will retire at the end of the season and hopes to bow out with another premiership.

The 36-year-old halfback announced at Brisbane's 2026 season launch that this year would be his 15th and last in the NRL.

"I've been thinking about it since the grand final," Reynolds said.

"Obviously, when you get to my age, it's coming to an end. It felt like it was the right time to just get it over and done with before the season starts."

Reynolds, who has won premierships with South Sydney in 2014 and the Broncos in 2025, has played 309 NRL games. He has also made two appearances for NSW in State of Origin in 2016.

Knights forward Thomas Cant has extended his contract for a further two years through to the end of the 2028 season.
